Biography

Dr. Md. Rashedunnabi Akanda is a Professor of Veterinary Pharmacology at Sylhet Agricultural University, Bangladesh. He holds Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and master’s degree in pharmacology from Sylhet Agricultural University, and PhD from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Chonbuk National University, South Korea. Dr. Akanda further expanded his scientific career through postdoctoral fellowships at the College of Medicine, Chonnam National University, and Hwasun Hospital in South Korea, as well as at the Indiana University School of Medicine in USA. These experiences have enriched his research perspective and facilitated collaborations with leading experts in biomedical sciences. His primary research interests include the therapeutic roles of standardized and plant-based drugs in inflammation and cancer biology—fields of growing significance in both veterinary and medical research. Dr. Akanda has made notable contributions to these areas, as reflected in his more than 60 peer-reviewed publications in esteemed scientific journals. His research has been supported by major funding agencies, including the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Korea, the Medical Research Center (MRC) of South Korea, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the USA, the Sylhet Agricultural University Research System (SAURES)–University Grants Commission (UGC), and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) of Bangladesh—showcasing the importance and impact of his work. In addition to his research achievements, Dr. Akanda is deeply committed to teaching and mentoring veterinary students. He plays an active role in academic development by guiding young researchers and facilitating a culture of scientific inquiry. He also serves as a Scientific Editor for journals published by Elsevier and as a reviewer for multiple international scientific journals, contributing to maintaining the quality and integrity of scholarly publications. Moreover, his involvement in various professional organizations highlights his dedication to advancing the field of veterinary pharmacology and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration. Through his multifaceted contributions to research, education, and professional service, Dr. Akanda continues to make a profound impact on veterinary medicine and pharmacology.
